Sierra Negra Volcano Tour
Sierra Negra Volcano is the largest and most active volcano in the Galapagos. It is a shield volcano that has a height of 1,124 meters above sea level. Its last eruption was in 2018. It is an ideal place for people who like to go hiking.
How to get there?
This tour starts in Isabela Island, the naturalist guide or agency staff will pick you up at the hotel.
Itinerary
You ride a bus for 30 minutes. Then you will start walking, the path is flat, with few ups and downs. During the trail there are several stops until you reach the top of the volcano. Once you are in the top, you will be able to see the 10km diameter of the volcano where you can take beautiful photographic.
This tour lasts between 4 to 5 hours, all depends on the physical conditions of the person. It is important to bring water to hydrate both ways. You will eat a box lunch.
Once you are in Chico volcano, you will realize that the volcano is active and there are many hot fumaroles. At the end of the trail, you will reach an impressive viewpoint. Return to hotel.
