Española Tour
Española Island is considered one of the oldest islands in the Galapagos and it is the only island in the Galapagos where you will see the waved albatross. In the months of April to December, they can be observed on the trail.
How to get there?
This tour starts in San Cristobal Island, the naturalist guide or agency staff will pick you up at the hotel or they’ll let you know a meeting point.
Itinerary
This tour starts at 7:00 am at the Hammerhead shark Pier and then you will take a boat that will navigate for approximately 2 hours.
First, you will visit Punta Suarez, where you will take a long walk to see the only place in Galapagos where the waved albatross reproduces. In the months of April to December they can be seen on the trail. In January they begin their journey to the coast of Peru, the males return at the end of March and the females begin to arrive in April. On the other hand, juveniles do not return until they are 5 years old and have reached sexual maturity, while adults return for their reproduction process every year. In addition, Nazca boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, as well as tropical birds can be observed on the trail. You can also see marine iguanas with their bright red color, the Galápagos mockingbird, and the Galapagos lizard that are unique to the Española island.
Finally, you will navigate to Garner Bay or Manzanillo to do snorkeling or rest on this beautiful beach where you can see sea lions resting on the sand.
